At the northern tip of Oman, where the waters of the Persian Gulf meet the Arabian Sea, lies the
Strait of Hormuz. A strategic crossroads, watched over by ships from all over the world… but also a place of stunning natural beauty.
Here we invite you on a unique expedition:
👉 9 days of sea kayaking, 8 nights aboard a traditional dhow, exploring the hidden fjords of Musandam, the isolated village of Kumzar, and paddling from the calm waters of the Persian Gulf to the open horizons of the Arabian Sea.
A rare journey, at the crossroads of maritime history, geopolitics and modern adventure.

Day by day itinerary
Day 1 – Departure from France ✈️
International flight to Dubai.
Day 2 – Arrival in Dubai → drive to Khasab
Airport pick-up, 3h transfer to Khasab. Overnight in 3* hotel.
Day 3 – Boarding the dhow & first paddle
Board our dhow, begin paddling in the Sham Fjord. Overnight onboard.
Day 4 – Sham Fjord & Telegraph Island
Exploration, dolphin watching, snorkeling. Overnight onboard.
Day 5 – Heading to Ghub Ali Fjord
Discover traditional fishing villages and wild coves. Overnight onboard.
Day 6 – Kayaking & snorkeling
Paddling along cliffs, snorkeling above coral reefs. Overnight onboard.
Day 7 – Kumzar village
Visit one of the most remote communities of Musandam. Overnight onboard.
Day 8 – Rounding the Strait of Hormuz
Major kayaking stage, contrast between shipping lanes and our silent expedition. Overnight on the Arabian Sea side.
Day 9 – Entering the Arabian Sea
Paddling along the eastern coast, more open waters and oceanic atmosphere. Overnight onboard.
Day 10 – Exploring Arabian Sea coves
Kayaking, snorkeling, seabird watching. Overnight onboard.
Day 11 – Return to Khasab
Final paddling strokes, scenic road transfer back to Khasab. Overnight in 3* hotel.
Day 12 – Transfer to Dubai
Morning transfer to Dubai. Afternoon paddle at Palm Jumeirah. Free visit of the city (souks, Burj Khalifa, Marina). Overnight in 4* hotel.
Day 13 – Return to France ✈️
⚠️ This itinerary is given as an indication and may be adapted depending on weather, sea conditions and group level.
Level & accessibility
- This expedition is designed for motivated travellers seeking adventure and itinerancy.
- Conditions are generally calm, but some days are long (20–25 km/day).
👉 Previous sea kayaking experience is strongly recommended to fully enjoy the trip.
Equipment & logistics
🛶 Kayaks: Trak 2.0 folding singles + Nautiraid doubles
🥢 Paddles: Werner carbon
⛵ Traditional dhow: our floating basecamp, double deck, with toilets and freshwater shower
🎒 Gear provided: kayaks, carbon paddles, PFDs, spray skirts, dry bags, safety equipment
➡️ Kayaks are transported from France to ensure a premium expedition experience.
➡️ Depending on group size, a small fleet of local kayaks in good condition may also be used as a complement.

Accommodation & meals
🏕️ 8 nights onboard the dhow
No cabins: we sleep on the open deck, under the stars, just as Omanis still do today.
Each evening the crew sets up mattresses, sleeping bags, pillows and blankets.
👉 A simple, authentic and magical experience, lulled by the sea and the stars.
🚿 Toilets and freshwater shower available onboard.
🍴 Meals included: 3 meals per day, cooked by the crew.
🍴 Meals not included: in Khasab and Dubai.
🏨 Hotels: 1 night in Khasab (3*) + 1 night in Dubai Marina (4*).
